How Can a Diagnosis Program Us?
From a young age, we’ve been told that doctors know best. Doctors save lives—it is a fact no one would dispute with. But do we always remember the power their words have? Diagnoses can work like labels, leaving a lasting imprint on our psyche. What we hear in the doctor’s office can either give us hope and faith in healing or strengthen fear and helplessness.
We tend to hand over full control of our health to doctors, believing they know better because of their education and experience—and that we should entrust our health entirely to them. While it may seem easier, the words they speak can stay with us for years—sometimes for a lifetime. Instead of empowering us, these words can program our thoughts and bodies for failure, creating a vicious cycle of symptoms.
Consider these phrases:
– “This pain is chronic. You will most likely have it forever.”
– “I don’t see anything in the results. All markers are within a range ”
– “This is an incurable disease. You’ll have to accept it.”
– “It’s just a routine exam. Why are you so stressed?”
– “Labor pain? You’ll forget it very quickly.”
Sounds familiar? These words often program us and we stay in a stay powerlessness for a good while. They introduce fear, they “kill” hope, and sometimes even disconnect us from our own bodies. Instead of carefully listening to the patient, doctors often issue “verdicts” that become a reality in our minds.

My Experience
I also wholeheartedly believed that doctors know everything about my health . They were authorities who had “ control “ over my health. Over the years, while searching for answers to my own ailments and unexplained symptoms, I heard many statements from medical professionals that left a significant mark on my subconscious:
– “3 months – this is a Chronic pain? That will definitely stay with you forever” – I had no idea what it meant. Instead of help, I received fear. No one explained to me in logical terms what “chronic” means in the medical world.
– “Your results are normal.” – When I could barely get out of bed due to various issues, these words took away hope for a moment.
– “Maybe that’s just how you are / “your beauty”” – Dismissing hormonal issues and overly frequent menstrual cycles, which led to anemia. Moreover, it made me think that I am sort or special with these symptoms’
– “Take magnesium, it’ll help.” – Sure, magnesium is helpful, but does it help with the emotional suffering tied to PMS?
“Exercise for chronic fatigue.” – When I could barely move a finger, I was told to exercise. The result? Even more exhaustion and literally crashing.
“If we extract your bad tooth, you’ll definitely feel better.” – I didn’t feel better. It wasn’t the solution, but I was left with trauma from a forced dental procedure.

How to Avoid Being Programmed by a Diagnosis?
The diagnoses we receive can serve as starting points, but they don’t have to be a life sentence. Instead of treating them as the ultimate truth, we can see them as guidelines. Our bodies have immense healing potential. In reality, our bodies are extraordinary systems that work tirelessly to keep us healthy every day.
The most important thing is to listen to yourself. No doctor knows your body better than you do. You are the one who feels when something isn’t right. If a doctor says: “I don’t see anything concerning here,” but you still feel pain or discomfort, you have every right to seek other answers.
In an ideal world, a doctor might say:
– “I don’t know, but let’s explore this together. Please tell me about your life before these symptoms began.”
– “I’m here to support you. Together, we’ll find a solution.”
– “I’m not sure what this is, but I’ll guide you through it. We’ll do all the necessary tests and discuss the results together.”
These kinds of statements create space for dialogue, allowing medical expertise to unite with intuition and body awareness.

Diagnosis vs. Faith
A diagnosis is important, but what matters most is how we interpret it and what actions we take. By working on ourselves, we can change how we perceive our health and free ourselves from the mental programs imposed by the words of medical professionals
Remember: our bodies have incredible self-healing abilities—it’s crucial never to doubt that.
P.S. I am grateful to all the doctors and therapists from various fields I’ve met on my journey. Thanks to them, I discovered my passion and a detective-like curiosity. I’ve learned to trust my intuition, and now my conversations with them sound completely different.
I will never forget words of one doctor – when I was so emotionally drained over symptoms, being hopeless, nothing was working and he said – Nothing is forever. This changed a perception of healing for me.
